10/10 TLC Match (WrestleMania 17)
The classic TLC match between the Hardy Boyz, Dudley Boyz, and Edge, and Christian is one of the most beloved matches in history for a reason. There’s a ton going on here, and all six men managed to go out and steal the show with their performances.
From huge bumps to clever and innovative double team moves this is a match that would have anybody jumping out of their seat. That is what wrestling is supposed to do, and that is why it’s an ideal match to show new fans.
9/10 Sheamus vs. GUNTHER (Clash At The Castle)
Some wrestling fans like to see technical submissions, others like aerial offense, but there is something about two big men just beating the hell out of each other that remains as entertaining as ever. There are few greater examples of that throughout WWE history than the Intercontinental Championship match between Sheamus and GUNTHER.
The two men competed in front of a red-hot audience and brought the physicality in a manner that anybody would be impressed by. Fans don’t need to know the story or anything about them, as it just comes across as a legitimate fight which is entertaining enough.
8/10 The Rock vs. Hulk Hogan (WrestleMania 18)
This match is all about the atmosphere and the spectacle that professional wrestling can provide, with two of the biggest stars of all time showcasing what the magic is all about. It isn’t a technical classic that will blow people away, but the drama and the fan response will draw anybody in.
Switching things up in the moment, The Rock instantly starts acting more like a heel as he realizes the fans are there for Hulk Hogan that night, but he still manages to win them over in the end. It’s an exceptional wrestling match, and a great jumping point for any fan.
7/10 Sami Zayn vs. Johnny Knoxville (WrestleMania 38)
Some wrestling matches are very serious and filled with drama, while others can simply be about fun and that is what this brings. It isn’t a technical classic as Johnny Knoxville isn’t a professional wrestler, but the “Jackass” star knows how to entertain a crowd, which he was able to do here.
Sami Zayn committed everything to this, and with fun cameos from other “Jackass” stars and a lot of props and bumps, there is always something going on. This is an example of just how fun wrestling can be, without the extra drama and tension, which is why it’s ideal for a new fan.
6/10 Bayley vs. Sasha Banks (NXT Takeover: Brooklyn)
There have been many great matches in NXT’s history, but few come close to being as impactful as the iconic clash between Bayley and Sasha Banks. This is one of the greatest women’s matches of all time, bringing two contrasting characters that are easy to understand from their entrances alone.
Coming off that they then go into the ring and deliver a classic as they leave everything out there that night. They go back and forth with some amazing moves, great reversals, and clever near falls that drag the fans in for Bayley’s great underdog moment.
5/10 Daniel Bryan vs. Kofi Kingston (WrestleMania 35)
Daniel Bryan’s own journey to the top at WrestleMania 30 is an incredible one, but Kofi Kingston’s own impossible journey to becoming WWE Champion is even more exciting due to the quality of the match. Bryan plays the perfect heel throughout this one, and seemingly does everything to stop Kingston from getting the win.
The two men go back and forth with an amazing crowd reacting to everything that happens as they’re desperate to see Kingston win the big one. It’s an easy storyline to buy into, and that is why it works so well for a new fan to consume.
4/10 The Undertaker vs. Mankind (King Of The Ring, 1998)
The ideal way to hook a new wrestling fan is to show them something that is so jaw-dropping that they can’t forget it. Few matches achieve that goal better than the Hell in a Cell match between The Undertaker and Mankind, with this being one that would leave any fan stunned to watch.
This one is all about the spots and the danger that Mankind puts himself in by being thrown off the roof of the structure, only to climb back up and be sent crashing through the roof to the mat. It’s an insane encounter with a ridiculous amount of danger that should earn the respect of any non-fan.
3/10 CM Punk vs. John Cena (Money In The Bank, 2011)
Both of these men can be polarizing figures at times amongst wrestling fans, but their WWE Championship match at Money In The Bank in 2011 is wrestling at its finest. It’s a high-quality match between two fantastic storytellers, that has got a lot on the line with CM Punk set to leave the company as WWE Champion if he wins.
With Vince McMahon trying to screw him and John Cena just looking to be the best wrestler possible, this match has got it all when it comes to drama. The fans are some of the most passionate there’s ever been, and overall it’s a classic main event with a story that is easy to invest in.
2/10 Royal Rumble Match (Royal Rumble, 1992)
There’s a reason why so many casual fans tune into the product every year at the Royal Rumble, and that’s because the annual over-the-top-rope encounter is easy to consume from a fan perspective. The stories get told throughout the match and audiences can see a wide variety of characters and styles.
The build-up and surprise is something that hooks an audience, and few have been more entertaining than the 1992 encounter. This match features a ton of star power and an amazing story as Ric Flair fights from #3 to go on and dramatically win the match.

Many wrestling fans consider this to be the greatest match in the history of WWE, and because of that, it is instantly a perfect one for new fans to watch. The Undertaker and Shawn Michaels are two of the biggest stars ever, and inside the ring, they know how to tell a story and put on a clinic.
That’s exactly what they did at WrestleMania 25 in what was a stunning match that saw Michaels throw everything at the Deadman to try and end his undefeated streak. The encounter is gripping from start to finish with great counters, amazing near falls, and a red-hot audience that will no doubt entertain any new fan.
